La Superette 2007

What is La Superette?

La Superette is an annual event, an art sale held around the holiday season in December. We organize a temporary store where artists sell functional art in multiples at affordable prices. In addition to the sale there are performances and video screenings that run throughout the day.

Bon Anniversaire!
To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of La Superette, we are expanding the event into a festival taking place over the first few weeks of December.

About La Superette

La Superette is conceived and organized as a place for artists to meet and collaborate on a specific project. We publish a catalog zine, which distributes contact information of all participating artists, host a web catalog on this site, and produce a video catalog which is screened at the event. Since it's inception, La Superette has included the work of hundreds of artists and attracted thousands of visitors and shoppers.

About chashama
http://www.chashama.org

Anita Durst founded chashama (Farsi for "to have vision") with a mission to continue Reza Abdoh's creative spirit after his early death. Durst, along with other principal players of Abdoh's theater company dar a luz collaborated with approximately 30 other artists for chashama's original production, "Jr. Black's Office," a multimedia show staged in 27 second-story office windows and broadcast via a pirate radio station to the street below. Due to the success and interest generated by this unique performance space, Anita acquired a storefront property on 42nd Street and incorporated chashama as a not for profit arts organization. Since then, chashama has become a major force in the NYC arts community by supporting the work and ideas of an increasing number of emerging artists every year.
